Description | This article describes the email delivery problem when activating the SMTP Signature feature. |
Components |
FortiGate v2.80MR8. |
Solution |
Using the FortiGate unit's SMTP Signature feature may prevent certain email servers from accepting an email. Under certain circumstances, our Signature is not properly terminated with a carriage return/line feed (CRLF), but instead with only a line feed (LF).
This occurs when you add the Signature from the web-based manager, adding multiple lines and pressing Enter at the end of each line. When entering a signature this way, each line is actually terminated with only a LF instead of CRLF.
Entering only a single line as a Signature (and not terminating it with Enter) will result in a properly formatted signature and will not pose a problem.
'Qmail' SMTP servers seem to be most affected by this Bare-LF issue and refuse to accept our mis-formatted emails.
Update. This issue is corrected in MR10 (build 456). |
