How to perform an automated silent install of FortiClient

Components

FortiClient v1.2 MR1 or below *only*

Steps or Commands

You can set up a silent install of FortiClient. The FortiClient install uses the MS Installer application (msiexec.exe), that is integrated and used as part of the setup.

The following link explains some of the possible switches that you can add to the setup.exe file (FortiClientSetup_1.2.066.exe).

You can create a basic automatic install profile by running setup /r, which records an 'answer' file (setup.iss) during the setup.

The automated install is then performed by having the setup.iss file in the same directory as the setup.exe, and running setup /s.

Further information is available on the Microsoft web site.

Complimentary to the above steps, you can import a .reg registry file, which contains specific VPN configuration data for the FortiClient user.

You can export the VPN information starting at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Fortinet\FortiClient\IPSec
