Description

The FortiWiFi-60 parameters are reset to factory defaults after a unit power cycle

Components

  • FortiWiFi-60
  • v2.80MR5 and later

Steps or Commands

This issue is caused by some old configuration parameters which have remained in the configuration file following an upgrade from a previous firmware version.

The older settings system wireless wlan have been replaced with system wireless settings as of v2.80MR5. These older settings should have been removed automatically from the configuration file by the upgrade process, but are not due to a bug.

These legacy parameters conflict with the updated parameters, and whenever the unit is hardware rebooted, the WiFi SSID, Key, and Security Mode parameters are reset to their defaults.

Solution:

Edit your configuration file and remove all the config system wireless wlan settings. See the example below:

config system wireless wlan
   set geography EMEA
   set channel 7
   set security WEP128
   set key ENC <key>
end

Reset the FortiWiFi-60 to factory defaults using CLI command exe factory.

Restore the modified configuration file, which no longer contains the above settings (it should still contain the system wireless settings section).

The system wireless wlan conflicting entries will no longer be imported, and will no longer cause a conflict (and parameter reset), when the unit is power cycled.
