When a FortiGate unit is in Transparent mode, there is a limit of 255 interfaces allowed. This applies to virtual LANs (VLANs) as well as other types of interfaces. If virtual domains (VDOMs) are enabled, this limit is per VDOM.
To have more than 255 VLANs in Transparent mode, you need to configure multiple VDOMs.
