How to block HTTP-Tunnel Client v4.4.4000 using FortiGate Web URL Filtering.

Steps or Commands

HTTP-TunnelClient is an application that can be used to bypass firewalls. You can use FortiGate Web Filter URL Filtering to block HTTP-TunnelClient.

To block HTTP-TunnelClient

  1. Go to Web Filter > URL Filter.
  2. Create a new URL Filter list or edit a current list.
  3. Add the following URLs to the list. For each URL set Type to Simple, set Action to Block, and select Enable.

    googlesyndicati0n.com
    http-tunnel.com
    akamatech.net
    cachenetwork.net
  4. Edit a protection profile, and set Web Filtering > Web URL Filter to the URL filter list that you added the URLs to.
  5. Make sure this protection profile is added to firewall policies that allow Internet access through your FortiGate unit.

    Note: You must add the URL filter list to the protection profile and you must add the protection profile to the correct firewall policies.
