Description NP2 packets dropped from Cisco IP phones.
Components
  • All FortiGate units with NP2 processors.
Steps or Commands

Older and even recent versions of Cisco’s IP phone model 7941 add extra padding to their packets, which are dropped by the FortiGate NP2 processor. The packets sent do not fully comply with the 802.3 standard. Cisco has confirmed this as an issue, and has released a fix in the latest firmware SCCP41.9-4-1S with boot file 41.3-2-2-0. All versions prior to this release seem to be affected.
