This article describes the installation options available when installing the FortiClient for the first time.
 

Scope

Solution
The FortiClient can be installed in several ways depending on your user and network needs.
 
1) Standalone environment

There are 3 ways to install the client in a standalone environment.

A complete setup will install features Ipsec VPN and Firewall option will only install these features. Choosing a custom setup will allow you to cusotomise your setup.

2) Customized Installation

See "5 Appendix A: FortiClient Custom Installations" of the FortiClient Release Notes on how to customise the installation using MSI technology. These are available for general download on our support portal.

3) Distributed Installation

See 
"5 Appendix A: FortiClient Custom Installations" section 5.7 of the FortiClient Release Notes " Enabling Remote Management ''. To enable remote management you must create a transform that changes the values of specific properties within the MSI installer.
