Description

This article shows some details about the FortiManager log message "Update Manager: Disk usage has exceeded disk quota!"

Scope
All models of FortiManager
Solution

The reason for this message, is because either the FortiManager is not using the new 40GB FortiGuard partition size, or because the disk-quota value is not set correctly.

The Web Filtering and AntiSpam databases are stored in the /var/static partition and it must indicate roughly 40GB in size, as per this output:

FMG3000B # diag fmsys print df
Filesystem           1k-blocks      Used Available Use% Mounted on
none                     65536         0     65536   0% /dev/shm
none                     65536        32     65504   0% /tmp
/dev/hda1                39663     29266      8349  78% /data
/dev/sda3            459446176   2238020 433869572   1% /var
/dev/sda2             41284928    223896  38963880   1% /var/static
/dev/sda4            459446176    131228 435976364   0% /var/misc
/dev/loop0                9911      1043      8356  11% /var/dm/tcl-root

If /var/static indicates around a 40GB size, verify that the disk-quota value is set as follows:

conf fmupdate disk-quota
set value 30720
end

If /var/static does not indicate around 40GB, you will have to proceed as follows:

 - if you are running version 4.0 MR1 or MR2 (any Patch), reformat the disk.

Formatting the disk will wipe and erase everything on the FortiManager.  Please ensure that you have a proper backup to restore after the format.  See this article on how to proceed with the resizing of the /var/static partition.
