This article will explain the procedure on how to upgrade a FortiClient Free Edition to FortiClient Premium Edition
Scope
All FortiClient users using FortiClient v4.1
Solution
If you have been running the Free Edition of FortiClient 4.1 then your FortiClient will have been running without the following features:-
1)
From the General/Status window of FortiClient Free Edition, in the bottom right hand side of the panel, click on ''Enter Licence Key''. Click here once you have purchased and received your valid license key, and you have the license key ready for insertion.
NB All FortiClient Free Editions run with a serial number starting with FCT800XXXXXXXXX
2) Once you have clicked on ''Enter License Key'' the FortiClient Activation Wizard will start with the following prompt, once this has been activated just click on ''Next'':-
3)Please enter your valid FortiClient License Key to be able to activate the Premium Edition and to unlock the extra features that were purchased with this Edition and click on ''Next'':-
4) Once the FortiClient has updated to the Premium Edition then you will receive the following notification from the FortiClient Activation Wizard, once the wizard has successfully been activated click on ''Finish'':-
5) To double check and ensure this has procedure has been successful you will notice that the serial number of the FortiClient will have been modified as shown below in the top right corner of the General/Status window:-
NB:- All Premium Edition FortiClient Editions are issued with the following serial number range FCT1000XXXXXXXXX
