In FortiOS 4.0 MR2 the log viewer has a new presentation. The log viewer uses Web 2.0 style. This article explains how to use the new log viewer feature.

Solution
Prior to FortiOS 4.0 MR2 the only way to view log details was to use ‘raw format’ in Web 1.0 style.
In FortiOS 4.0 MR2 when an entry in any given log table is selected, a pop-up window appears on the right of the screen. In this window are the details of the particular log entry. With this window open, it is possible to scroll through all logs in this format.
The following is an example of how to do this on the GUI of the FortiGate:
1. Enter the Log&Report menu.
2. Enter the Log Access menu.
3. Select, for example, an event log to view.
4. Click on the log to view.
5. Read the pop-up window on the right-hand of the screen for the log details.
6. Use the cursor arrows in the top-left to view other logs in this format.
