Description

On a FortiMail in HA mode, when a configuration is updated on the Primary unit, the Secondary unit is immediately updated as well.  This is valid for both, Active-Passive HA and Config-only HA.

Additionally, units in Active-Passive HA can synchronize data directories - system quarantine, email archives, email users’ mailboxes (server mode only), preferences, and per-recipient quarantines).

The interval for this synchronization is up to 20 minutes on units running firmware v5.0.3 and higher.  For units running firmware prior v5.0.3 this interval is 20-40 minutes.

Solution

The data directory synchronization can be enabled in System -> High Availability -> Configuration

It can also be synchronized through the CLI:
config system ha
set mail-data-sync enable
end
This setting needs to be enabled on both cluster nodes in order for the feature to work.
