Technical Tip : How to change the baud rate of the FortiGate serial port

Description
The default baud rate of the serial console is 9600. The following speeds are also available :

FGT# config system  console
FGT(console) # set baudrate ?

115200    115200
19200     19200
38400     38400
57600     57600
9600      9600

The baud rate settings can also be changed by entering the configuration menu during the boot process.

Example :

Please stand by while rebooting the system.

Enter Selection [G]:
Enter G,F,B,I,Q,or H: I

[S]:  Set serial port baudrate(will take effect on next boot).
[T]:  Set image download port(will take effect on next boot).
[C]:  Set DHCP enable (will take effect on next boot).
[I]:  Display hardware information.
[Q]:  Quit this menu.
[H]:  Display this list of options.

Enter S,T,C,D,I,Q,or H: S

Please select serial console baudrate: [9600]
[1]:  9600
[2]:  19200
[3]:  38400
[4]:  57600
[5]:  115200

Note: The setting done via this configuration menu applies on next boot, but the change done from system config applies with immediate effect.
