This articles addresses FortiDB losing the connection but not making a retry or sending an alarm to the administrator.

Solution
There is no alerting capability for the case when the connection to the target DB is lost in V4.0.
This function was available in an earlier IPLocks version which tried to re-connect to the monitored DB three times, and if that was not successful, sent an e-mail to the administrator.
This feature will be re-implemented in V4.2.
