Description

This article describes how to test the FortiGate-60C model hardware by using an HQIP image.

Solution
There are currently two types of HQIP images for the FortiGate-60C model.

1. Base HQIP test (FortiGate-60C_HQIP_1900.img)
This is basic HQIP test which can be used in most instances.

Wire loop back cable between port1-port2, port3-port4, port5-wan1, wan2-DMZ.

If no USB device is connected on the unit, HQIP will skip the test and respond 'PASS (0 USB Device)' in the report. This means that no testing is performed.

A 2-port USB Express card should be inserted into PCMCIA slot, and USB test kits plugged into the USB ports of USB Express card (not the USB ports on the unit), if required.
2. PCI HQIP test (FortiGate-60C_PCI_HQIP_1800.img)
This test is for PCI Express slot and two USB ports.

Insert a PCI express card into the Express slot and connect the PCI Express port to DMZ.

The test image will prompt to insert USB Type A-Type B cable to test slave USB.

Run this image in order to test two USB ports on the unit. The USB cable should only be connected when the HQIP asks for it, it should not be connected before the test starts. A USB Cable which has Type A and B connectors can be used.

The cable to the USB port should be connected when the HQIP displays the following message:

---
4. Test USB Slave port.
Please connect USB-A port to USB-B port by using special cable.
If you see the message (USB device (Slave port) is detected.), please press SPACEBAR, otherwise press other key.
---

The following message will be displayed if the USB connection test is succeessful:

---
USB device (Slave port) is detected.
---

The FortiGate-60C has two USB connections on the SOC. Type A is the master USB port, Type B is the slave USB port. PCI_HQIP_1800 will test both ports at the same time.

The USB B port can also be tested by using FortiExplorer.
