Description
This article explains how to ensure that a FortiGate device is not recorded on the FortiManager as an unregistered device. The configuration in the article makes sure that the first initiation between the two devices is made by the FortiManager.
Scope
FortiOS v4.0 MR3 and above. FortiManager v4.0 MR3 and above.
Solution
To ensure that a FortiGate device does not connect to a FortiManager as an unregistered device:
1. On the FortiGate, edit the central management section and unset the FortiManager IP address.

2. On the FortiManager, discover the FortiGate by adding the device via the FortiManager add device widget on the web based manager. Complete all of the necessary information including IP address and name, then select OK.
3. On the FortiManager check in the device manager to verify that the FortiGate has been registered correctly.
