This article provides information on the use of User Alias on a FortiMail.
The User Alias acts as a distribution list to translate one email address into email addresses of several recipients called members. For example, group1@acme.com might be an alias that the FortiMail will expand to user1@acme.com and user2@acme.comAn alias can also be an alternative email address that resolves to the real email address of a single email user. For example, phil.jones@acme.com might be an alias that the FortiMail translates to p.jones@acme.comIn both cases the FortiMail converts the alias in the recipient fields of incoming email messages into the member email addresses of the alias, each of which are the email address of an email user that is locally deliverable on the SMTP server.
Members of an alias can include the email address of the alias itself.
