Description

In 2013, with use of an NTP server, the date/time on the phone system may be incorrect. This will effect the date/time on the phone system, the date/time on the phones, and may cause calls to be handled incorrectly.

Scope

All phone systems (TalkSwitch + FortiVoice) using an NTP server to update system time.

Solution

Temporary solution:

Manually remove the NTP server from the phone system configuration. Do so by going to Options - Set Date & Time. Click the NTP Server tab at the top, delete the NTP Server, click OK, then File - Save. Note that this will take care of the issue, but the date/time will no longer be updated on a nightly basis therefore the time may drift over time.

Permanent solution:

An update is available for versions 7.20, 7.11 and 6.50. Information about downloading software through FortiCare can be found at http://www.fortivoice.com/sites/default/files/productdatasheets/Management_software_download_instructions.pdf

7.20 = Software/firmware package can be downloaded via support.fortinet.com and partners.fortinet.com

7.11 = Software/firmware package can be downloaded via support.fortinet.com or from http://www.fortivoice.com/support/talkswitch-support.html

6.50 & 6.12 = Software/firmware package can be downloaded from http://www.fortivoice.com/support/talkswitch-support.html

If you continue to experience issues following the firmware update, and reboot of the phone system, please update the ticket with details. Note that once the date/time has been updated on the phone system, IP phones may need to be manually rebooted to reflect correct time.
