Archiving Emails in Transparent Mode

Purpose
How to enable email archiving in transparent mode:

1. Interface configuration
a. Edit the interface which is connected to the email server
Under System -> Interface > SMTP Proxy, select Proxy in the drop down menus for "Incoming connections" and Outgoing connections".

b. If outbound email is to be archived, and it is connected to a different port than incoming traffic, the same must be done on the interface that is connected to the interface.

2. Configure Email Archiving
a) Creating an archive account under Email Archiving -> Archive Accounts
b) Create an Archive Policy in Email Archiving -> Policy

Expectations, Requirements
Archiving of e-mail is often required for auditing purposes.

Verification
Send email traffic through the FortiMail. Then check Monitor -> Archive to see archive entries.
