Description

An alert email is normally configured via Log & Report > Log Config > Alert E-mail. However, the Alert E-mail branch may not be visible on the GUI. SMTP server will need to be configured first before alert email can be configured.

Solution

For FortiOS 5.0, go to System > Config > Messaging Servers. Under the Email Service, configure the SMTP server first. Then, the alert email will now be visible.

For FortiOS 5.2 onwards, the configuration option is found under System > Config > Advanced.
