Description

This article explains that the FortiGate 92D can create HA cluster only using wan1 and/or wan2 ports as HA heartbeat interfaces.

On 5.2.4 firmware with FortiGate 92D hardware and internal-switch-mode set to ‘interface’,  when using 2 (or more) internal ports as HA heartbeat interfaces, the FortiGate 92D cluster does not come up as expected (see topology design below).

Solution

It is possible to create the HA cluster only using wan1 and/or wan2 ports as HA heartbeat interfaces.
