Solution

Workaround

This behaviour may be encountered after an unsupported upgrade from FortiClient EMS Beta2 to FortiClient EMS v1.0 GA. If similar problems are experienced after upgrade, it is necessary to remove the FortiClient EMS installation and perform a clean install of the current code.

Refer to the Release Notes in the Fortinet Document Library for supported upgrade paths, and to the Administration Guide for information about installing FortiClient EMS.

Troubleshooting

The error is due to connection problems with the FCEMS_Server server.  Task Manager can be used to check whether FCEMS_server has been started.

If it is not started then the service can be enabled to start automatically.

If the service is starting or restarting constantly, go to the Windows Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application to identify the cause.

When the offending error log has been identified, save the output of the Event Viewer.  This information may be required if a technical support ticket is opened with Fortinet Customer Service and Support.
