Description

Guest users not getting an IP address on G2 interface; what are the factors that prevent the client from not getting an ip address?

Scope

KB ARTICLE TYPE: Troubleshooting

RELATED PRODUCTS: Controller, AP

RELATED SOFTWARE VERSIONS: ALL

KEYWORDS: vlan, switch port, G2 interface

Solution
TROUBLESHOOTING:

1: If the DSL modem provides an IP to all the clients then, please make sure that override default DHCP should be turned “off” and relay pass through should be turned “ON”; if the modem IP is given as the default gateway.

2: If we have a separate DHCP server providing the IP address other than the global DHCP server then, we need to turn “on” override default DHCP.

3: Make sure that specified VLAN is allowed on the G2 switch port

4: Please make sure that G2 switch port is trunked.

5. VLAN info is correctly mentioned as per the uplink switch/DSL modem subnet

RESOLUTION: If we have all this setup the clients will get an ip address from the DSL modem.

ROOT CAUSE: Not giving the proper IP address and VLAN configuration on the controller.
