Technical Note: How to update Firmware using FortiCloud

Description

This article explains how to upgrade FortiGate firmware from FortiCloud.

Solution

Make a backup of the FortiGate configuration prior to starting.

1. Access FortiGate CLI and execute the following commands:

config system central-management
     set mode backup
     set type fortiguard

2. Go to the FortiCloud portal at www.forticloud.com

3. Select the item related with the FortiGate Device.

4. Go to Management > Firmware Upgrade.

5. Select the desired Firmware version and click on Upgrade.

6. The status will change to pending and then the software will be downloaded and applied.
