Description

Cannot join the IDM appliance to the domain.

Solution

Look for the following errors on the System Logs:

nmbd[12579]: register_name: NetBIOS name HSD-MERU-IDENTMGR is too long. Truncating to HSD-MERU-IDENTM

The truncation is supposed to work, but for some reason, it sometimes prevents IDM from completing the join process. LAN traces between AD and IDM should most likely show that IDM simply "stopped" after running some initial queries against AD.

Rename the hostname to something that wouldn't have to be truncated, and that should allow the IDM to join the domain.
