Description

AP300 stop broadcasting the ssid.

Scope

KB ARTICLE TYPE: Troubleshooting

RELATED PRODUCTS: AP300

RELATED SOFTWARE VERSIONS: 3.4.2

KEYWORDS: AP300, BSSID

Solution

AP300's will stop Broadcasting the SSID randomly. This issue was seen in early 3.4.2 codes and not seen on later codes.

STEPS TAKEN FOR TROUBLESHOOTING:

STEP 1:

Reported issue was stations were dropping off from the wireless network.

STEP 2:

When scanning the wireless SSID using wireless network Analyzer found the BSSID disappearing for few seconds and then gets back.

STEP 3:

Using wireless sniffer confirmed that the AP300 stops beaconing at some point of time.

STEP 4:

Stopped the Rogue-AP detection/mitigation mechanism on the controller and rebooted the AP's. After that the issue is not seen.

RESOLUTION:

Capturing the wireless sniff found that the AP300 was not beconing at some point of time, disabling the Rogue-AP detection and mitigation mechanism -rebooting the AP's was the resolution for this issue.

ROOT CAUSE:

This was due to the software beacon that was reset and waited for it to sync up with the hardware beacon count. At this point of time where the software beacon count has to catch up with the hardware count the AP didnt broadcast. Once the count syncs up the AP starts broadcasting.

(This issue is been fixed in later release, this is one of the troubleshooting that needs to be checked).
