Unable to configure antenna diversity; While configuring antenna diversity controller gives error “Operation has not been completed! - Error: This wireless interface cannot support diversity.” while in the process of enabling antenna diversity.
KB ARTICLE TYPE: Troubleshooting
RELATED PRODUCTS: MC1015, AP201
RELATED SOFTWARE VERSIONS: 3.1.4
KEYWORDS: controller, AP, GUI, antenna
STEPS TAKEN FOR TROUBLESHOOTING:
STEP 1: Verify if the short preamble is turned on (You would get this error if you turn on the antenna diversity by keeping the short preamble set to ON)
STEP 2: Get into the CLI of the controller >> Get into configure terminal
STEP 3: Get into the interface Dot11Radio 1 1 >> antenna-selection diversity
STEP 4: Now the Antenna diversity will be configured for the AP
CLI Steps:
MeruController1# configure terminal
MeruController1(config-if-802)# antenna-selection diversity
MeruController1(config)# interface Dot11Radio 1 1
MeruController1(config-if-802)#exit
MeruController1(config)#exit
MeruController1#
WebUI Steps:
To configure antenna diversity from the GUI:
1. Go to configuration tab >> AP under Devices >> select the AP201 & go to its settings.
2. Go to wireless Interface & click on the AP settings.
3. Set the short preamble to OFF & click OK.
4. Set the antenna to 802.11a or 802.11b or 802.11g & set the antenna selection to BOTH.
RESOLUTION:
You won’t be able to select both short preamble and diversity at the same time. Meru APs can use both antennas (diversity mode), but only if configured to use a long preamble.
Expected Behavior:
To configure antenna diversity, you must set the short preamble value to off before enabling the antenna diversity. The antenna selection should be LEFT because that is the default antenna for the AP.
