Solution
The controller by default will keep the user's session up for 33 minutes of inactivity as long as the station is still connected to the same SSID on the wireless network.

The “Associated Station Max Idle Period” can be configured on the GUI on System Director 5.0>>: Configuration> Devices> Controller.

On System Director 4.0-x, it is done via root:
