Description
This article provides some basic troubleshooting when using a FortiCamera managed by a FortiRecorder.

Solution
Verify camera setting
# diag camera verify <camera name>
This will provide information on whether there is any configuration error.

Not able to detect camera

1)  Make sure there is a DHCP server on the network where the FortiCamera is located as the FortiCamera default is set to DHCP.

2)  If manually adding the FortiCamera and the FortiCamera status shows it is not able to locate the MAC address of the FortiCamera, then need to add manually on the FortiRecorder in order to allow it to communicate and push settings.
# config camera device
# edit <camera name>
# set mac <mac address>   --- MAC address in xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx notation
3)  Ensure that the FortiCamera is able to be pinged from the FortiRecorder.

4)  Try to disable and enable again the FortiCamera, this will trigger pushing the settings to the FortiCamera.

5)  Perform a factory reset on the FortiCamera by using pin to press on the pinhole at the back of the FortiCamera (hold for 5 second).

Remove video clip

There is no option to remove an individual recording but the command to remove all the video on the system is:
# exec partitionlogdisk
It would require system reboot.

Not able to push setting and log show error on password

There may be a case where there is a problem when trying to push setting to the FortiCamera, and the log shows an issue with the password.

FortiRecorder will change the FortiCamera password during the initial configuration and the password is unique to each FortiCamera based on the MAC address.  In this case, perform the following:

1)  Perform a factory reset on the physical FortiCamera.

2)  Manually add the MAC address of the FortiCamera into the FortiRecorder setting.
