Technical Note: How to recover the lost password on FortiSandbox

Description

This article explains how to recover a lost password on  a FortiSandbox.

Solution

To recover a lost password on a FortiSandbox:

1) Connect to the device console port and set the terminal to:

Speed (baud): 9600
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Parity: None
Flow Control: None

2) Reboot the FortiSandbox using the power button.

3) When login prompt appears type:

username : maintainer
password : bcpb<serial number of the FortiSandbox>

All letters of serial number should be uppercase, for example: bcpbFSA3KD3R12345678

4) To change the password use the hidden CLI command:

admin-pwd-reset <new password>
