How do I get the Beta release of Accelops Visual Analytics?

There is a link to the 4.3 Beta download in the article Important Information for the AccelOps 4.3 Beta Release. You must install this version of AccelOps to use Visual Analytics. You should read all the information about the Beta release in that article before installing. In addition, you will need to download the AccelOps Report Server from https://images.accelops.net/VMs/pre-release/rs/4.3.1-beta/. You will need a customer login to access both the 4.3 installation and the Report Server OVAs.

The Analytics Desktop and Analytics Server components of AccelOps Visual Analytics are powered by Tableau Software. You will need to download both from the Tableau Software website:

How do I get a license for the Beta release of AccelOps Visual Analytics?

AccelOps Visual Analytics is included in the Beta version of AccelOps 4.3, and is covered under the same license. You can obtain a license for AccelOps 4.3 by sending an email to 431beta@accelops.com. To activate Tableau Visual Analytics Server and Desktop, select the Free Trial option when prompted for an activation code during the installation process.

You can find more information about the AccelOps 4.3  Beta release in the article Important Information for AccelOps 4.3 Beta.

Can I install AccelOps Visual Analytics Beta on a production server?

You can only install AccelOps Visual Analytics Beta in a non-production environment.

Can I use AccelOps Visual Analytics Beta with business intelligence tools other than Tableau?

In this release AccelOps Visual Analytics can only be used with Tableau, but we anticipate supporting other business intelligence tools in future releases.

Does AccelOps offer support for setting up and configuring Tableau to work with Visual Analytics?

If you are an AccelOps customer with a valid support contract, we provide support for all installation, configuration, and installation issues related to AccelOps Visual Analytics, including AccelOps Report Server and integration with Tableau. We do not support installation, configuration, or usage issues associated with Tableau outside of its integration with AccelOps Visual Analytics. You should contact Tableau Software support for more information about setting up and using Tableau. See the article Visual Analytics Support Policy for additional information and links.

What other tools do I need?

We recommend using the pgAdmin utility to examine the PostgresSQL databases in AccelOps Report Server. pgAdmin is included by default in most Linux distributions, such as RedHat, Fedora, Debian and Ubuntu. You can also download it from http://www.pgadmin.org/download/.

Can I use AccelOps Visual Analytics with AccelOps Service Provider (AO-SP)?

Yes, but with caution. Report Server does not include role-based access control, so any user can potentially see all data for all customers. If you are a Managed Service Provider (MSP), you  can use AccelOps Visual Analytics to visualize data associated with all your customers. If you want to provide access to Visual Analytics for your customers, you should create customer-specific workbooks, and then provide users with access to those workbooks as described in the product documentation.

What operating systems work with AccelOps Visual Analytics?

Currently Visual Analytics Server has to be installed on a Windows Server, while Visual Analytics Desktop can be installed on both Windows and Mac OSX machines. AccelOps Report Server can only be installed on VMware's ESX hypervisor for this beta release, but support for other hypervisors will be included in upcoming releases.

What are the system requirements for AccelOps Visual Analytics?

System requirements, including hardware and storage requirements, are described in the product documentation and in the PDF attached to this article.

How fast is report data populated from AccelOps to the AccelOps Visual Analytics Report Server?

After the initial sync with AccelOps, AccelOps Visual Analytics Report Server is updated with fresh report data from AccelOps every five minutes, resulting in near real-time visual analytics of AccelOps data.
