For information, see the Migrating the Configuration section in the FortiManager admin guide
  • Backup FortiManager-VM 32-bit configuration

  • Download the FortiManager-VM 64bit v5.4.1 image from support.fortinet.com

  • Create a new FortiManager VM, this new FortiManager VM need to be running on 64 bits

  • The VM license requires the IP address to be registered at support.fortinet.com
    Two options are available:

        a) Power off the FortiManager-VM 32bit unit and use the same IP on the 64bit unit, or
        b) Use a different IP address and modify the registered IP address on the Support portal.

  • Migrate the FortiManager-VM 32 bits configuration file using a FTP and the command:
exec migrate all-settings < ftp | scp | sftp > <server> <filepath> <user> <password> [cryptpasswd]
Example:
exec migrate all-settings ftp 192.168.1.1 backup.cfg fotinet 123456
Note: It is possible that you need to delete and add all the FortiGates again or retrieve configuration and synchronize on all the FortiGates
