Technical Note: Updating 870i base and handset

Description

This article explains how to update the base station and handset of a 870i phone.

Scope

FortiVoice B series, D Series, TalkSwitch and Enterprise.

Solution

Use the following steps to update the base station and the handsets.

1. Update the Base Station

(a) In the 870i web interface, navigate to the Firmware Update page.
(b) Leave the Firmware path blank.
(c) Enter the version number in both fields referenced.
(d) Click the Start Update button.

Within a minute the circular light on the base station should start flashing very quickly indicating that the firmware is being updated.  After the update the base will reset automatically, the process will be complete when the circular light on the base station is solid green.

In the 870i web interface, navigate to Home/Status in the Welcome section it should reflect the firmware version IPDECT/03.23/.

2. Update the Handsets

(a) Ensure all handsets are in their respective chargers.

(b) In the 870i web interface, navigate to the Firmware Update page.
(c) Leave the Firmware path blank.
(d) Enter the version number in both fields referenced.
(e) Click the Save/Start Update button.

After about a minute, navigate to Extensions in the web interface.

The progress of the update of each handset will be displayed in the 'FWU Progress' column.  This procedure may take some time depending upon the number of handsets.  The update is complete when all of the handsets show 'Complete'.
