Description

iOS Devices Unable to View Captive Portal Page Using Local DNS Suffix

Solution

Issue: IOS devices perform a multicast DNS lookup for any name using a .local suffix. This lookup will fail because the portal DNS does not support multicast queries. This will prevent iOS devices from being able to bring up the Captive Portal Page.

Solution: Navigate to System > Settings > Security > Portal SSL

Change the Fully-Qualified Host Name suffix to something other than .local.
