Description

This article describes the behavior where a single false positive 'Database Replication Error' alarm is generated on occasion. The process used for database replication is robust and will restart database replication automatically. Therefore, a single alarm can be ignored.

Scope

Version: 8.x, 9.x., F7.x.

Solution

The default values of the 'Database Replication Error' alarm mapping were changed in newer releases. The 'one Event to one Alarm' mapping was changed to a 'Frequency' mapping of 'three Event occurrences in two minutes per Alarm'.

The database change does not occur automatically for existing customers during a software upgrade.  Existing customers are required to manually change the Event to Alarm mapping.

To modify the Event to Alarm mapping, follow the instructions in the appropriate Administration Guide:

Modify the Database Replication Error mapping.

  • Trigger Rule = Event Frequency.
  • Frequency values = 3 events occurring within 2 minutes.

If the Database Replication Error alarm still triggers with this frequency mapping, then further investigation is needed. See the related KB article Technical Tip: Database replication Error in a FortiNAC HA setup.
