DescriptionL2 Polling Takes Long Time for Switches with Large System Uptimes
ScopeVersion: Network Sentry 7.3.1 and above
SolutionVersion: Network Sentry 7.3.1 and above.
Issue: For network devices with System Uptimes over a year, Network Sentry reads the VLAN information every time L2 Polling occurs. Consequently, the L2 Polling for the device can take several minutes. This can contribute to performance degradation, such as slow switching of VLANs when a host connects or disconnects from the network (if using link state traps).
Workaround: Reboot the network device with the large System Uptime.
Solution: Addressed in Network Sentry 8.0.6 and 8.1.0.
