Possible Causes:  Disk full, file system corruption,  improperly seated hard drive or hard drive failure.

Solution
1.  Verify disk space:
df -h
2.  Ensure configuration files are copied to a remote server (in case a recovery is necessary).  If remote backups are not already scheduled, they can be uploaded using SCP or to a FTP server.
3.  Power down the appliance.
4.  Re-seat the hard drive.
5.  Power up the appliance.

If database is corrupt, restore the last database.
