Description
Wireless Clients Lose Connection When Moving Between Aerohive Access Points

Scope
Version: N/A
Solution
Version:  N/A

Issue:
Wireless clients lose connection when moving between Aerohive Access Points.

When a wireless client roams between Aerohive Access Points (AP's) in the same hive and using the same SSID but different VLANs, the client loses connection.

In order for Network Sentry to assign the new network on the other Access Point, a RADIUS request must be received.  Aerohive Access Points configured for L2 Roaming do not send RADIUS requests when clients roam between AP's in the same hive.

Workaround:  Disconnect/reconnect client or de-authenticate client from the Access Point.

Solution:  Create separate hives per network (VLAN).  For details, refer to the Aerohive Device Configuration section in the Aerohive Wireless Access Points V8.0 guide.
