Description
Port Operational Status in Topology does not display correctly (e.g. shows LinkDown when a device is actually connected).

A port in Topology View will display a green link light in the event that the Operational Status of the port reports up, but no mac address is present on the port.

Solution

1.  Navigate to Network Device > Topology
2.  Right click on the Model Configuration and select Resync Interfaces.

The Resync Interfaces task triggers the appliance to query the switch for the Operational Status of the ports. Any ports displaying as grey or green will be updated to grey or green using this method.

The Operational Status of the port does not update automatically.  A Resync Interfaces task can be scheduled to occur automatically from the System > Scheduler view, but it is not recommended.  Resync Interfaces is a resource intensive task on the switch and the appliance.  The data gained (Operational Status) is minor compared to mac address data that is obtained by a standard scheduled Layer 2 poll.
