Description
Hosts are Registered a Devices Rather than to a User

Scope
Version:  Network Sentry 7 & 8
Solution
Version:  Network Sentry 7 & 8

Issue:  Host unexpectedly becomes registered as a Device instead of registered to a user record.

This behavior can occur if a host becomes unregistered (through aging or some other mechanism) then matches a feature configured to automatically register a Rogue as a Device.  Possible features include:    
  • Device Profiling Rule  (Hosts > Profiled Devices lists hosts registered with this method)
  • Passive Agent Rule (used in conjunction with the Persistent or Passive Agent)
  • Credential Configuration (Register as a Device if Persistent Agent is detected on the host)


Solution:  Review the above configured features and make changes as necessary.
