Description
MAC Randomization Feature Causing Increased License Consumption

Scope
Version:  Network Sentry 8
Solution
Version:  Network Sentry 8

Issue:  "In Use" license count increasing unexpectedly due to MAC Randomization feature.

The following behavior is observed with the Persistent Agent installed on registered Windows 10 machines with the MAC Randomization feature enabled:
  • Several host records generated with the same host name.  Only one adapter associated to each one.
  • Each host record shows online, but the associated adapter shows offline.
  • Because the additional host records show online and registered, they are consuming a license.

Workaround:  To release the licenses being consumed by the duplicate host records:
1.  Disable MAC Randomization on the endstation.
2.  Delete the extra online host records with the offline adapters.

Solution:
Addressed in Network Sentry version 8.1.5 and above.
