Description
There are a few key components required in order to properly manage IP Phones and devices connected behind them:

  • IP Phone Device Type: Will not be manipulated by network access policies.  It is assumed that all IP Phones will sit on a tagged voice VLAN. Tagged traffic is not manipulated.
  • MAC Notification Traps:  These traps should be used as opposed to Link State traps.  MAC Notification traps provide timely connectivity information as devices connect and disconnect behind the IP Phones.

Solution
Refer to the FortiNAC Cookbook for instructions on integrating IP Phones using tagged VLANs.
