Description
Network Sentry 8.2 Not Processing Cisco MAC Notification Traps

Scope
Version:  Network Sentry 8.2.1
Solution
Version:  Network Sentry 8.2.1

Issue: When MAC Notification Traps are enabled on a Cisco switch, Network Sentry does not process them.  SNMP events indicating "GetFailed" for the switch are generated instead of the "MAC Learned" and "MAC Removed" events.

Upon receipt of a Mac Notification trap, Network Sentry may perform an snmpwalk of the dot1d table.  SnmpV1 and V2 get requests fail when context values (such as VLAN IDs) are used. This can prevent Cisco Mac Notification traps from processing.

Solution:  Addressed in Network Sentry 8.2.3.
