Description

This article describes the behavior where software upgrades fail to complete when remote backups are configured but not working.

Examples of errors displayed when upgrading and in the update_log file in /bsc/campusMgrUpdates:
"Running backup ./.backup_config: line 24: unexpected EOF while looking for matching"

Error: FTP transfer failed from <FortiNAC hostname> to <FTP server hostname or IP address>

(Or similar error indicating transfer failure if using SSH)

Running the /bsc/campusMgr/bin/systemBackup script results in the same error.

Scope

Version: 8.3 and above.

Solution

1) In the Administration UI, navigate to System - > Settings - > System Management - > Remote Backup Configuration.

2) Correct the settings so the remote backup completes or disable the remote backup option (note: disabling feature removes remote backup configuration).

3) Select Save Settings.

4) Re-run the software upgrade.

For more information on backups see Backup and Restore reference manual in the Document Library.
