Description
This article describes how to resolve FortiExtender showing latitude and longitude values as 0.000000 in 'get modem status' output.

Scope
For version 4.1.5 GA build 191.
Solution
- Ensure FortiExtender is running on minimum version 4.1.5 Build 0191 version.
- Latest FortiExtender firmware can be downloaded from Fortinet support portal: https://support.fortinet.com
- FortiExtender 'get modem status' output - LTE connect status has to be 'Connected' as shown below:

1) When FortiExtender is connected to Internet via LTE connection – FEX shows latitude and longitude values as 0.000000 in 'get modem status' output as shown below:

2) FortiExtender antennas have to be plugged as per their labels (MAIN/AUX/GPS) at designated Connectors.
For Example: For FortiExtender-201E model as shown in Page #5 in QuickStart guide link below:

https://fortinetweb.s3.amazonaws.com/docs.fortinet.com/v2/attachments/9a9d5de5-f4ef-11e9-8977-005056...

3) FortiExtender antennas have to be positioned as depicted in the following sample pictures:

4) Once antennas are plugged on FortiExtender - reboot FortiExtender and wait for about 5-10 minutes and then check if 'get modem status' output shows non-zero latitude and longitude values and also if modem connection status shows as 'Connected' as shown below:

5) If GPS latitude and longitude values are still showing zero value, place FortiExtender in an outdoor or near Window spot for better signal reception or try the same steps with another SIM card and check the behavior - to rule-out if its is Carrier side issue.
