Description

The use of Syslog to notify the appliance of endpoints connecting to the FortiGate is no longer recommended due to performance and scalability issues. When host connects to the port, the FortiGate sends a Syslog message to FortiNAC. Each Syslog message triggers extensive messaging between FortiNAC and FortiGate.

Solution
Upgrade to version 8.7.6, 8.8.2 or higher and configure Device Detection Traps. See the FortiGate Endpoint Management Integration reference manual for instructions.
