Technical Tip: Cannot activated FortiCloud due to 'Invalid user name or password' or 'Error connecting to FortiCloud'

This article describes the cause of not able to activate FortiCloud with the error

-          “Invalid user name or password” in FortiOS 5.0 5.2 and 5.4

-          “Error connecting to FortiCloud” in FortiOS 5.6

Solution

On legacy FortiOS, FortiCloud account password can be maximum 8 characters and the password must be alphanumeric characters, minimum length 7, at least 1 number, 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter.

If your password is longer than 8 characters, please change the FortiCloud password and try to activate again.
