Description
This article describes how to migrate obsolete Alibaba Cloud Product code to newer version using custom image from the obsolete instance.
The new instance creates using custom image will have same config setting as the original instance.
For BYOL product code, the new instance will also inherit the license file from old instance.
So both instances cannot run at the same time.
Solution
Step1: Create a custom image from an instance.
- Log on to the ECS console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, choose Instances & Images > Instances.
- In the top navigation bar, select a region.
- Find the instance for which you want to create a custom image. In the Actions column, choose More -> Disk and Image -> Create Custom Image.
- Enter an image name and description and select 'Create'.
Step2: Stop the original Instance.
Step3: Use the custom image to create an ECS instance on the newer product code, select 'Choose your plan' and remain on Custom Launch page.
- Under Basic Configuration ->Region, select same Region, Zone as the original instance.
- Under Basic Configuration -> Image , Choose Custom image and select Custom image name that has been back up from original instance.
- Under Networking. Please select same VPC, Security Group and VSwitch as original instance.
- (Optional) Under System Configuration, it is possible to select to use same key pair as original instance by select key pair from the current list.
After create instance, access to new instance and verify overall config and connectivity. Then access Instances page to release the old instance.
