Description This article describes the auto start grace period policy of hardware bundle warranty and support contracts.

Solution

Hardware Bundle Warranty:

Warranty Auto-Start (Old Policy):

As per Fortinet Warranty Start Policy, the hardware warranty auto-starts at the earlier of the following events:

  • Device registration in the support portal.
  • Initial ping from the device.
  • Warranty auto starts after 60 days from the shipping date for the US/Canada and 100 days for the rest of the world.

New Policy effective February 2023: (applicable to all hardware bundles)

As per Fortinet Warranty Support Start Policy, the hardware warranty starts at the earlier of the following events:

  • Device registration in the support portal.
  • Initial ping from the device.
  • Warranty auto starts after 60 days from the shipping date for the US/Canada and 90 days for the rest of the world.

Contract AutoStart Policy:

FortiGate Hardware (one-year/Multiyear contracts):

  • Contract auto starts after 60 days from the shipping date for the US/Canada and 90 days for the rest of the world.

All other products including Fortigate VM (One-year/Multiyear contracts):

Customers should register the contract within 365 days from the contract creation date.

  • For 12-month contract: Failing to register, the system will forfeit the entire 12-month period and the contract will get deactivated.
  • For Multiyear contract: Failing to register, the system will forfeit the first 12-month period and the contract will auto-start on the 365th day.
  • In no circumstances will the forfeited duration of the Service be extended.
