Description This article clarifies collation settings within FortiClient EMS. It is important to note that the use of different collations can result in anomalies in EMS functionality.
Scope FortiClient EMS on-premises installed on Windows Servers.
Solution

FortiClient EMS should be installed with the following language settings on the server. Different language settings may result in different collation settings being applied. The EMS default collation is 'SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS'. See FortiClient EMS' system requirements for more information.

To check collation settings, use the following command prompt commands:

SQLCMD -S .\fcems
SELECT name, collation_name FROM sys.databases
go

If a different collation was detected on FortiClient EMS, the only way to change the collation to the default is to install EMS from scratch. Note that exporting and restoring the old EMS backup will result in the new EMS having the same collation configuration.
