Description | This article describes the behavior when the IPSec tunnel (IKEv2) shows some strange characters as User in VPN events log. |
Scope | FortiGate, VPN, IKEv2. |
Solution |
When using IKEv2 in the VPN IPSec tunnel, it is possible to see strange characters as Users in the VPN events log.
For example:
The user '*`8C' is the ASCII encoded character of the remote peer's IP address (42.96.56.67). It can be verified by using this tool http://www.unit-conversion.info/texttools/ascii/
The solution is to upgrade the firmware to at least v7.0.13, v7.2.5 or v7.4.0. |
